![]() A Tasty History
Burrito entrepreneur Wendy Jones opened the first Mission Burrito location on West Alabama in 1996. Back then, Wendy and a friend were impressed with the unique and delicious style of burritos available in San Francisco’s trendy Mission District. She was bound and determined to bring this amazing concept back to Houston and opened the appropriately named “Mission Burritos” in ’96. The original West Alabama restaurant was a hit from the start, with early lines out the door and a vast and loyal following of burrito eaters still gracing our doors today on a very regular basis.

Welcome to the Family
In the Spring of 2006, Mission Burrito became a member of the family at Houston-based Mexican Restaurants, Inc (MRI). Wendy left the two locations (West Alabama and I-10 & Durham) and the future of the Mission Burrito concept, in very capable, caring hands. After all, the good folks at MRI know a good thing when they see it, and taste it! Mission Burrito has quickly become the “star attraction” among the family of local MRI restaurant brands.
